Joy arrived just in time for major surgery that would save her life.

Little Joy was found wandering on her own in Adelaide's northern suburbs.

It was clear she was severely malnourished, underweight, and dehydrated, but little did we know what else she was truly facing.

Soon after arriving, Joy was rushed into urgent surgery and was found to have a very large intussusception – a condition where the intestine folds over and telescopes in on itself.

The vets at AWL knew that to save Joy’s life, she desperately needed to have the damaged part of her intestine removed and the healthy ends stitched back together.

The high-stakes surgery that Joy needed in order to survive can be incredibly challenging to perform, requiring immense precision from Dr Michelle Woolfall.

But if left untreated, the outcome was almost certainly going to be fatal for little Joy, who still had her whole life ahead of her.

After four hours of delicate surgery and dedicated teamwork, Joy woke in the recovery ward.

Despite the hand she was dealt, because of your support, she received the veterinary treatment that saved her life.

It takes time, patience, and a team of caring people to save a puppy who had the odds against her.

Seeing her receive the love and attention she deserves, and knowing she's in good health, is one of the greatest feelings.

Your support helps animals like Joy receive the veterinary treatment that could save their life.
